The greatest wisdom is to make the enjoyment of the present the supreme object of life Because That is the only reality, all else Being the play of thought. But We Could just as well call it Our greatest folly Because That Which exists only a moment and Vanishes as a dream can never be worth a serious effort.

Ideal Percentage Of Muscle In Women

[Japan 2007] 20/09 - 24/09 Shiba Park Hotel Tokyo. Part 3. Metro Rail Pass

Hurry Rail Pass is the practice of the round sling in the vast and intricate maze of tunnels that is the Tokyo subway. From the beginning we realize that without a map to keep in hand we would not have the slightest chance of succeeding in a journey without a hitch. I stress the importance to carry around a map of the underground with the image of what we have used (metro and trains):

NB: In the back there are the rail lines that I will post another intervention.

tear index is directly proportional to the utility (to find the station of interest), although after a couple of days to memorize the colors and directions, so that everything becomes much more natural. Well, yes: the Tokyo subway is a maze in which each tunnel has its own distinctive color, which learned the move it becomes so easy that it seems to be born, in the subway. To reach Shinjuku
decide to take the Toei subway Oedo for 7 stops. Not being able to use the Rail Pass (which I repeat only be used for railway lines) we are going to take the ticket. The machine automatically sends us into a panic until we see the right button ITALIANO ( WARNING: Not all machines have the English language. Some models, probably older and more devices in the stations are only Japanese).

a language that we understand more help to a certain point, then we try to observe how they buy and the Japanese, not without some discussion, we understand that the cost of tickets is proportional to the number of stops (great idea, we should we adopt such a system: you only pay the way you do, not one-off one hour of travel also for only 3 stops).
The decision to buy this ticket is useful if you need to make two short trips, round trip, but if the intention is to run all day every day you can buy subscriptions at bargain prices, always on the aforementioned machine .
Most Japanese have a subscription in the portfolio which passes next to the entrance turnstiles, we just insert the ticket and retrieve it, stamped on the other side.
astonishment at seeing a train arrives on time is strong for an Italian, but in Japan you have to do the corn because what they say is true around: transport split second. You read that right, not minute, second. This is because all moving to Tokyo by public transportation, so you must have a functional transport system.
The subway is clean. Dozens of Japanese are intent on snooze (breaks, even if very brief, and are dedicated to the recovery of physical strength), listening to music, playing with the Sony PSP or Nintendo DS, talking almost in a whisper. Given the claustrophobic crowd, everyone creates their own little mental space and waits patiently to get there. To exit
reinsert the ticket turnstile at the famous (so do not miss it!) Who, realizing that we have reached our goal, we do not return the piece of paper, perhaps because in the rush someone might decide to throw down and dirty.
WARNING: If you are wrong if you (for example, making one or two more) blocking the entrance to the turnstile. Do not panic! It can happen and no one would look wrong, especially for us foreigners, probably not very used to travel there. There are special machines that automatically calculate the difference to pay, simply insert the ticket!

Leigh D Xtreme Curves

[Japan 2007] 20/09 - 24/09 Shiba Park Hotel Tokyo. Part 4. A Shinjuku.

The day was sultry, the heat almost unbearable.
In Shinjuku, there are works in progress, exit the subway and then does not allow us to enjoy the view. In the distance we see the first skyscrapers we have discussed and wanted to see in Italy. In front of the station, a band made up of boys are playing nice music, we pause a moment to listen, then run to the discovery of one of the most charming districts of Tokyo.
We see a large group of well dressed people with a stick in his hand a bit, intent to travel to coordinate some sections of the street "grid." The goal? Collect any garbage from the street.
not I understand why these people were dressed in suits and suit to collect the garbage (and I will not even launch into easy assumptions), the fact is that this is yet another demonstration of the Japanese cleaning.
The problem of cigarette butts is also negligible: most of the Japanese smokes on the premises and the stretches of road marked, throwing everything in the proper ashtray. Smoking on the street is not allowed except in these places (among other numerous enough) but I've more than once to see Japanese smoke almost in secret (with the butt facing the palm of the hand) walking down the street, however I have never seen anyone get fined for this, although there are small police stations every few blocks (so-called Police Boxes).

Photos taken by photopassjapan (all rights reserved).

The trash bins and have to put it is almost non-existent. As
missing the garbage on the sidewalks, parked cars is also missing. In Japan the drivers (those few who do not travel by public transport) take their cars in special (many) car parks.
of double or triple line there is no Italian track. To fully describe
Shinjuku shopping and its substantial music there is nothing more appropriate than a photo gallery (in the next post).

Ceremony Program Thank You

This is the first time in Tokyo at the discretion of Martha, because it would have to return to Italy before and we did not have other opportunities to enjoy the city.
The first choice, then, falls on one of the most popular districts of Tokyo, the seat of government buildings among other things: Shinjuku.
Before you approach the famous Tokyo subway but we have an appointment with the Rail Pass.

What is the Rail Pass?
It 's the fastest and cheapest way that foreigners can take to use the rail lines (not metro) Japanese, except the Nozomi Shinkansen.
The Rail Pass is useful to move in long-haul flights (between cities) or in the same Tokyo, which has a dedicated railway line. The pass has a duration of 7, 14, 21 days, depending on subscription (thus the cost).
Must be purchased outside of Japan, then if you need to refer to the travel agent. To withdraw it need only go to the train station (we went to security, Tokyo Station) in the office appropriate (the JAPAN RAIL PASS exchange office. In Tokyo station is clearly indicated by signs and arrows), fill out a form and wait for the delivery of the pass

For a detailed description of types and prices, I suggest you refer to this page.
For the record, we paid 14-day Rail Pass € 355.
official website of the Japan Rail Pass.

About this retreat, I would like to point out the efficiency of this office: the young lady who had the task of He then quickly corrected in red pen, the mistakes we made using the model (for example, the number four is written in a certain way)

and in a few moments gave us the pass.
A curiosity: the Rail Pass is almost never checked. To use it, just move on and show it on the side of the controllers, so you avoid the turnstiles. Most of the time do not have ever watched. That they are so accustomed to honesty not even imagine what a malicious person could pass and enter the next station, pretending to have the pass, but on balance without paying?

Broken Capilaries On Breast

[Japan 2007] 20/09 - 24/09 Shiba Park Hotel Tokyo. Part 2.1. The first day

Shiba Park Hotel is a 3-star hotel which is worth more that sports, two huge buildings one after another, separated by a narrow street.
The staff knows how to treat foreigners as a means stoned us, we just deliver the reservation and fill out a form and get the keys.
accompany us over the road to which I referred earlier, up the elevator and directly in the rooms, two double one against the other.
Like any good self-respecting tourist, the first thing to do is turn on the television and go to the bathroom to find out if indeed the "cup" does what we have raccontanto around. Nothing
to report with regard to television, though once we managed to find of the show Gaki No Tsukai.
The bathroom, however, comes with everything you need for a traveler who has forgotten the bag at home: disposable razors, toothbrushes, disposable, cotton buds, disposable brushes, disposable soap, toothpaste use disposable.
If you are a fan of the bathrobe, the suggestion is to take it home because you will find a small towel and a big one. Point.
Some are embarrassed to talk about it but I think it is only right: a side of the cup there is a kind of small electronic control panel. The buttons indicate, through intuitive doodles, their purpose: to spray (soft bidet. A tube makes its appearance and nothing more than spraying water vapor), cast (bidet itself. The tube above sprays a jet of hot, warm or cold depending on our choice), hot / cold (for jet ), heating (not all Japanese baths were dodati this gem: the actual scaling of the cup. An excellent remedy in the event of particularly cold mornings!).

Finally, throw in the bed, we realize where we are and what we are doing. A liberating laughter is a must in these circumstances.

[Japan 2007] 20/09 - 24/09 Shiba Park Hotel Tokyo. Part 2.2. The first day

A refreshed and fled outside, because the hunger begins to bite .
front of the hotel is a typical seller of ramen (a small wooden kiosk in the middle of two buildings of metal. Ah, Japan ..) but we are not yet ready for this, we decide to keep him good because it will soon be ours, there's no doubt about this.
The neighborhood is not as great as we had assumed, but he knows his stuff, considering that there is more of a building occupied, all its planes, in restaurants of all kinds.
decide to enter one at random. People are playful, sociable, drink, smoke and laugh. Far away from the famous composure of the Japanese in which we have always believed.
The menu is in Japanese and English, as well as being accompanied by photographs of the dishes. We choose and finally the first real meal in Japan. The price was right, contrary to what we thought, but as regards the food and the general cost of living, I have already scheduled a separate post.
embrace this moment of tranquility and brought it gently into the street to the hotel, tomorrow will be a busy day full of surprises.

White And Black Damask Wrapping

[Japan 2007] 20/09 - 24/09 Shiba Park Hotel Tokyo. Part 2. The first day

There is still time to see the sky of Japan. It will be really dark?
we are put in front of another problem (yes, I know, we did not start-trained) how to find this other line?
Once again we diverge from the bewildered crowd to breathe a moment and look at the map. Nothing, yet we have become accustomed. A young lady in the suit notes the difficulty (we later learned that stopping in the middle of the road map is a doubtful look and the perfect way to stop the first Japanese who knows a little English), after a brief but intense explanation we says he knows what course we should take and offers to accompany her to entrance! After 3 or 4
escalators (staying strictly on the left. The right side is hunting for people in a race), after corridors overflowing with people busy and indifferent after sudden turns, we arrived in front of the long-awaited line. The lady helping us once again for the tickets, God bless you, and before we take leave application where we come from. "Italy."
A smile makes her way on her face. A genuine smile, not fact. During our stay it will not be the only one to react this way after hearing our "origins".

The train journey takes place without any difficulty, but it's really dark outside.
Hamamatsucho Station is as expected less crowded than that of Tokyo, here you can breathe, you can stop suddenly without running the risk of being hit by a Japanese who looks at his shoes and listen to music with headphones.
Calmly we settle and prepare for what would be the last (hopefully) fatigue of the day: the removal of our weary limbs weighed down by luggage to the hotel. Another
megamappa enlightened us solve the problem in part, at least we know which exit to take. Down the stairs and, looking back do not really believe it yet, the Japanese sky! Dark, with no trace of stars, but it is something not to have a roof over their head.
Hotel, according to ci informa la cartina (o meglio: a quanto capiamo da essa), sembrerebbe vicino a dove ci troviamo noi.

Considerando che il quartiere nel quale we were certainly not to stay in the top 10 districts of Tokyo, the excitement back to the surface.
Here we almost lost, but we do not need any more help, the map is clear, just read it on every block.
Finally we see the Samurai Hotel Fire and the drain on his way O_o''

The impact was stronger than expected but has not yet come forward to stand.

[Japan 2007] 20/09 - 24/09 Shiba Park Hotel Tokyo. Part 1.3. The Journey, arrival.

A huge map on the back-lit bar us the way, is salvation. We know that to reach the Shiba Park Hotel is not necessary to exit the station, just take another line (the train)! Precisely following the path highlighted in this map (in fluorescent green, one of the few who have not yet used to mark the lines!):

Diagram And Bugatti Veyron

[Japan 2007] 20/09 - 24/09 Shiba Park Hotel Tokyo. Part 1.2. The Journey, arrival.

Finally we are ready to go out and see the sky Japanese!
No!
To get to Tokyo we have to take the train. The train takes you directly to the airport. The first time there has been very bad, so we had a train ticket is just a minute left before us (our fault, we did not know exactly where to go and we were not yet accustomed to the signs). The airport staff has come straight up, a lady told us where and how to immediately take the train, then helped us to make another ticket that we have not paid, because basically we had not used one before. Comodo. It does not seem appropriate to make yet another comparison with what happens to us.
The train was clean and cool air conditioning (there is a place in the world that takes advantage of the air conditioning as well as Japan), a small television were given updates about the latest stock quotes, and out of the windows .. . out of the windows? Nothing.
It seemed the night, but basically they were just after 18:00. The windows were blacked out? They could be so much.
Travel, therefore, was anonymous for about an hour, just long enough to reach the outskirts of Tokyo ...

Lights!
Blind.
Lights! On the streets that sometimes appeared and disappeared in seconds.
Blind.

This was our first trip to the extravagant metropolis.
After about two hours of travel we finally arrive at Tokyo station. Kindly help us to move our bulky luggage and off to the luc .. not yet. To define
Tokyo station are just two words: "immense" and "city". This is a city within a city, pass me the pun. To make half a mind to look at the map:

Click here for an interactive map [Mapion].

A huge flow of people seems to come and keep us on the last second. We feel disoriented.
Why can not they all clash?

A bit hesitant we are reaching the first exit that we see ...

... big mistake, the outputs are dozens and distant from each other. In the hallways of this huge metal tunnel we see a myriad of restaurants, newsagents, shops which fail to understand the utility.

dead tired but happy, finally landed on the ground Nipponica! The journey exhausting it did not help to throw down in the dumps.
After landing (which are not followed the applause typically Italian-_-) all the passengers come together in one place waiting to get on some sort of "monorail" that takes passengers from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2, always see everything without even a glimpse of heaven in Japan.

Small sore point: we have waited a long time before I could get on the "monorail", namely 2 laps (about 5 minutes apart). I did not figure out if there were technical problems or too many passengers, but once resomi account of this transport system I would expect to see more than 2 monorails do back and forth.

After the usual queues for routine checks (this is particularly, and rightly so hard) and reach the baggage claim and we already see our incredibly removed from the tape on the side. All our luggage. Together.
Now, there is to think of all the times you have been up half an hour in the queue in front of the baggage claim belts in Italy, with the constant feeling of never see your stuff?

Fear (of boredom) in air travel of 13 / 14 hours is a lot, fortunately the aircraft company of Japan Airlines (JAL) we thought made a number of entertainment to pass the time during the trip.
This leisure has many names: MAGIC-I, MAGIC-II-III MAGIC, MAGIC-IVI but one purpose: entertainment.

This is a small interactive television installed on the back of each chair (at the side of the chair in case of first row) equipped with a remote control and headphones.
With Magic you can watch movies (in English or in Japanese, sometimes it happens Italian), listen to a thirty radio, check the outside temperature, altitude, speed and position of the aircraft, enable the two cameras that takes everything what happens before and under the hull (fun especially during the start and Landing. Ours was a face for most of the night, so we were not able to admire the scenery very high altitude).

Nothing to report regarding the food on board. The choice was between two menus, a classic for intercontinental travel. At least I have not had a stomach ache ^ ^
Advice for the journey
  • Sometimes you feel as cold to feel hot, so you should dress in layers
  • Personally, I regretted not having brought one of those donuts to be placed around his neck, would make me very comfortable. You can find the airport, but are more expensive, so better to take them home. They are inflatable, so they take up very little space.
  • of Use for your trip and wear comfortable shoes to be removed at your leisure.
  • At a certain time the lights are lowered, if you're going to sleep and still give you trouble, bring a mask for the eyes.
  • better try to stay awake during the journey, on arrival you will be able to get used more Time Zone.

Holcomb Shower Door Parts

New Label: [Japan 2007] The year was 2006 ... Preface

Now write some posts of the trip to Japan that we have done in the now distant 2007. I had already entered elsewhere, but I prefer to collect them all in this blog.

Actually it all happened quickly, perhaps too much. The idea of \u200b\u200ba voyage to Japan was in the air already for some time, but had always been taken as a "something to do at least once before I die."
To clarify this preface I must specify that the work site staff FFOnline ( Italy Everything about Final Fantasy Online Final Fantasy ), dedicated to a particular Japanese video game franchise. Here I met other people who are passionate like me and willing to fly halfway around the world. Thus, from day to day (or at least when we were financially able) have decided to organize this trip. When I write "any day", I mean really "overnight".
Simulation box:

"So we go there or not?"
"Ok"
"Okay,"
"No problem"
"idem"

Just ask.
Alone we were not able to establish places, hotels, sightseeing etc ... For this reason we turned to a travel agency with which we were able to draw up an itinerary enviable.
We should be in 5 to start (and here I take this opportunity to introduce my fellow travelers), the undersigned, Jgor, Mark, Martha and Sabrina. 3 out of 4 are already a member of this forum and are part of the staff of GS ( Gamesource ). After some problems Sabrina was unfortunately forced to give up: /
Now that I think back to the classic debates about time that we found, of food, clothing we should bring on luggage, tickets, time zone, etc. .. I lose a smile, because everything has unfolded in games played as naturally as possible.
